Sound Democratisation For Beginners, London College of Communication, 2010.

An installation comprising a homemade instrument constructed from junk materials, amplified via contact mics, and cassette tape loops. Sound from the instrument is manipulated through Max/MSP according to movements of the player. In this way, the sound is democratised, as then influence of the dominant process of direct physical interaction is reduced.

Tape loops represent democratisation of sound not only because one reclaims the sound of the artist but also the mode of delivery. Both are subverted and hence reclaimed.
